The Fort Frances fire and Rescue Service is comprised of the Fire Chief, 6 full time members and 20 volunteers.
The Fort Frances Fire and Rescue Service undertakes and provides the following emergency and response services: structural fire fighting including rescue; vehicle fire fighting; grass, brush and forestry fire fighting; 1st response and tiered response services (ambulance assist.); operations level hazardous materials response; vehicle accidents including extrication services; transportation incidents involving vehicles, trains, aircraft, and water craft; water and ice rescue - shore-based; water and ice rescue - boat-based; rope rescue; confined space rescue; community emergency service plan participation; public assistance; public utilities assistance and police assistance.
The department operates out of one fire station located at 320 Portage Avenue. Equipment consists of the following:

| Pumper 11-2 - 2008 Spartan equipped with 1250 GPM, 30' water tower and light boom, ground ladders and fire fighting equipment | |
| One Telesquirt | Ladder 11-3 -1988 Ford equipped with a 1050 GPM pump, 75 foot hydraulic ladder, and fire fighting equipment |
| One Command Vehicle | Command 11-8 -2010 - 28 foot trailer equipped with Fleetnet communcation system for Provincial interoperability. Deployed as a mobile command post, rehab point or Emergency Operation Centre. |
| One Marine response boat | Marine 11-9 - 14 foot Aluminum boat with 15 hp motor that is used for rescue support, and access to municipal islands. for fire suppression and prevention duties. |
| Two Water Rescue Craft | Oceanid RDC that is designed for quick deployment after arrival on scene. Very effective for shore based, and open water rescue. |
